NYOS Development
Overview
NYOS Development features aspiring orchestral musicians aged 11-18, who have reached Grades 5-8 or equivalent, and are keen to develop their musicianship and orchestra experience.
NYOS Development is designed to provide young players with aspirations of playing in NYOS, the opportunity to develop their musicianship and orchestra experience in a welcoming and creative environment supported by expert instrumental tutors.
Following a hugely successful 2023, this year sees the return of Natalia Luis-Bassa as conductor for both Spring and Summer courses and concerts, building upon the work she has already contributed to these players. Natalia brings out the best in our players and we are keen to continue to develop her relationship with the orchestra. The 2024 repertoire will see the orchestra explore a range of composers in Spring including Verdi, Missy Mazzoli and Arturo Márquez, and then in Summer, they will present the soaring Symphony No. 1 from Sibelius.

You are eligible to apply to our NYOS Development orchestra if you are:
- Aged 11-18
- Grade 8+ music or equivalent (Qualification as a guide only and not essential)
- Have a Scottish connection: Born in Scotland, living in Scotland, studying in Scotland, or have a Scottish family link.
