NYOS Junior Orchestra
The spring concert opens with Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture, composed for Heinrich Joseph Collin’s 1804 interpretation of the famous Greek tragedy. We continue our exploration of classical music’s revolutionaries, with works by Sibelius and Borodin, pioneers of the musical nationalism movement that emerged in the nineteenth century, their music brimming with the influence of the traditional melodies of their homelands.
Guiding the Junior Orchestra through this wonderful programme is maestro Catherine Larsen-Maguire, who returns to NYOS after conducting the Senior Orchestra in 2018.
