You are eligible to apply to NYOS if you have one or more of the following Scottish connections:
- Born in Scotland
- Living in Scotland
- Studying in Scotland
- Scottish family link

NYOS Orchestras
NYOS accepts applications from all standard orchestral instruments including concert pedal harp.
Our orchestra guidelines are as follows:
NYOS (aged 14-22): Grade 8+
NYOS Development (aged 11-18): Grade 5-8
Please note that qualification is a guide only and you do not need to have taken any exams to apply. In exceptional circumstances we may consider applications from younger musicians for non-residential attendance.
Auditions are free and course bursaries of up to 100% are available.
No student who successfully auditions for any NYOS ensemble will miss out due to financial circumstances.

Other Courses
NYOS LAB (aged 14-18): Grade 6+
NYOS LAB accepts applications from almost all musical instruments across a wide range of genres including classical, jazz and Scottish trad.
Applications for NYOS LAB are currently OPEN. The deadline is Wednesday 11 September, 3pm.
NYOS Academy (aged 9-14): Grade 2-5
NYOS Academy accepts applications from all standard orchestral instruments including concert pedal harp.
Applications for NYOS Academy are currently closed and will open in early 2025.
